The University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore is seeking highly motivated individuals to join our esteemed China Study Center as Research Associates. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research and contribute to the academic discourse on China-Pakistan relations and broader regional dynamics. The successful candidates will work closely with faculty members and senior researchers, gaining valuable experience in multidisciplinary research methodologies.

Main Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research projects related to China-Pakistan relations, with a focus on economic, political, and cultural aspects.
  • Assist in organizing seminars, workshops, and conferences on topics relevant to the China Study Center’s mandate.
  • Analyze and synthesize complex information from diverse sources to produce high-quality research papers, reports, and policy briefs.
  • Contribute to the development of research proposals and funding applications to support the Center’s activities.
  • Engage with stakeholders from academia, government, and civil society to disseminate research findings and foster dialogue on issues of mutual interest.
  • Support the Center’s outreach efforts through the creation of digital content, including blog posts, social media updates, and multimedia presentations.
  • Collaborate with other research institutions and universities to promote academic exchange and collaboration on China-related research projects.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Area Studies, or a related field. A Ph.D. or ongoing doctoral studies would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated interest in China-Pakistan relations and familiarity with key issues shaping bilateral cooperation and regional dynamics.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to critically evaluate complex information and communicate findings effectively.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English. Knowledge of Chinese language (Mandarin) would be highly desirable.
  • Experience in academic or policy research, including literature review, data analysis, and writing for publication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
