Job Description
We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Wildlife Keepers. As a Wildlife Keeper, you will play a crucial role in the care, management, and conservation of our animal residents. You will work closely with a team of experienced professionals to ensure the welfare and well-being of the animals under our care.
Main Responsibilities
- Animal Care: Provide daily care, feeding, and enrichment activities for a variety of wildlife species, including mammals, birds, and reptiles.
- Enclosure Maintenance: Maintain clean and safe animal enclosures, including habitat enrichment, landscaping, and structural repairs.
- Health Monitoring: Monitor the health and behavior of animals, report any abnormalities or concerns to the veterinary team, and assist with routine medical procedures.
- Visitor Engagement: Interact with visitors, answer questions about the animals, and provide educational presentations to promote conservation awareness.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of animal observations, feeding schedules, and medical treatments in accordance with zoo protocols and regulations.
Job Requirements
- Passion for Wildlife: Genuine interest in wildlife conservation and a commitment to promoting the welfare of animals.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, working outdoors in all weather conditions, and standing for extended periods.
- Team Player: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team.
- Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent qualification. Additional coursework or a degree in biology, zoology, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience working with animals in a zoo, wildlife sanctuary, or similar environment is advantageous.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and irregular hours as required.
