The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) is a regulatory authority in Pakistan, responsible for managing and regulating the distribution of water resources among the provinces of Pakistan. IRSA ensures the equitable distribution of water to meet the agricultural, domestic, and industrial needs of the country.

Position Overview

IRSA is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Project Engineer to contribute to the Basin Irrigation System Telemetry Project. The project aims to modernize the telemetry systems across the basin, enhancing monitoring and control capabilities for efficient water resource management.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design and Implementation: Develop detailed plans for the installation and implementation of telemetry systems across the basin irrigation network.
  • System Integration: Integrate telemetry systems with existing infrastructure to ensure seamless communication and data exchange.
  • Testing and Troubleshooting: Conduct testing procedures to ensure the functionality and reliability of telemetry systems. Troubleshoot any technical issues that arise during testing or operation.
  • Training and Support: Provide training to operational staff on the use and maintenance of telemetry systems. Offer ongoing technical support as needed.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze telemetry data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for optimization in water resource management.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, technicians, and stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in the design, implementation, and maintenance of telemetry systems or similar infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java for system integration and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with team members and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with water resource management principles and practices is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites across the basin region as needed.
