Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan suffered a hamstring injury during the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand, forcing him to retire hurt in the third T20I match. The injury occurred while he was batting, leading to his withdrawal from the series for rest and rehabilitation.

Rizwan’s absence is a significant setback for Pakistan, as he had been in excellent form throughout the series. His notable contributions with the bat and behind the stumps were crucial to Pakistan’s previous victories, particularly in the second T20I, where he played a key role in Pakistan’s commanding win.

Despite his early exit, Rizwan achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the fastest batter to reach 3,000 T20I runs, surpassing India’s Virat Kohli and his Pakistani teammate Babar Azam. He reached this milestone in just 79 innings, showcasing his status as one of the top batsmen in the T20 format.

Rizwan’s absence will require Pakistan to adapt their approach for the rest of the series as they aim to maintain their momentum and secure a series win against New Zealand. Following the second T20I victory, Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam emphasized the team’s commitment to building on their success, while also praising the bowling unit for their strong performances.

With Rizwan’s injury, Pakistan will have to find ways to compensate for his absence and ensure they continue to perform at a high level against the Kiwi side.
