Jason Gillespie, the head coach of the Pakistan Red Ball team, mentioned in a casual conversation that Shaheen Shah Afridi might miss the upcoming Bangladesh Test due to personal reasons.
“Shaheen Afridi has been heavily involved in cricket,” Gillespie noted.
He highlighted that Shaheen has bowled three times more than Starc in the past year. Gillespie also pointed out Shaheen’s participation in leagues across all three formats.
Gillespie emphasized the importance of managing the workload of Pakistani fast bowlers. He confirmed that Shan Masood will lead the test team.
“I haven’t had the chance to meet Shan yet, but we have been in touch over the phone,” Gillespie added. He mentioned meeting captain Babar Azam in Lahore.
The Pakistan team will begin their camp for the Bangladesh series in the first week of August.
