Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi has arrived in Pakistan for a three-day official visit. He landed at Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, where he was welcomed by federal minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada.

President Raisi is joined by his spouse and a high-level delegation that includes Iran’s foreign minister, several cabinet members, senior officials, and a business delegation.

During his visit, President Raisi will meet with Pakistan’s top civil and military leaders. On the first day, he is scheduled to have discussions with the president, the prime minister, and the army chief. At the Prime Minister’s House, Raisi will be greeted by PM Shehbaz Sharif and will receive a guard of honour. A private meeting between the two leaders is planned to discuss mutual interests and explore opportunities for enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation in various sectors.

Following the one-on-one meeting, there will be delegation-level talks at the Prime Minister’s House, after which a joint declaration will be issued. Prime Minister Sharif will also host a luncheon in honour of the visiting dignitary.

A ceremony for signing memoranda of understanding (MoUs) is expected to take place at the Prime Minister’s House, with plans to sign seven to eight agreements. As part of the visit, President Raisi and Prime Minister Sharif will plant a sapling at the PM House to mark Earth Day.

Additionally, a ceremony will be held to name a highway in Islamabad as Iran Avenue, and the two leaders will address the press.
