Main Responsibilities

  • Financial Management: Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies to ensure the university’s fiscal sustainability and growth. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Strategic Planning: Lead the development and execution of strategic plans that align with the university’s mission and goals. Provide strategic guidance on resource allocation, investment priorities, and revenue generation opportunities.
  • Risk Management: Identify financial risks and opportunities, and develop mitigation strategies to safeguard the university’s assets and optimize financial performance. Monitor market trends, economic indicators, and regulatory changes that may impact the university’s financial position.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including academic departments, administrative units, government agencies, and funding partners, to foster positive relationships and support strategic initiatives.
  • Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing finance and planning team. Provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to enhance staff capabilities and ensure departmental effectiveness.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the finance and planning function. Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and leverage technology solutions to optimize financial operations.

Job Requirements

  • Education: A master’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field is required. A professional certification such as CPA, CFA, or ACCA is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in financial management, planning, and analysis, preferably in a higher education or non-profit environment. Demonstrated track record of leadership and achievement in finance, with experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and strategic planning.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic planning and analytical skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights and recommendations. Proven ability to develop and implement innovative financial strategies that support organizational objectives.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial concepts and information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Leadership Abilities: Exceptional leadership and team-building capabilities, with a track record of motivating and empowering staff to achieve high performance and results. Strong commitment to fostering a culture of collaboration, integrity, and accountability.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and demands. Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, prioritize tasks, and manage competing deadlines effectively.
