Main Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the assigned department or center, ensuring alignment with the university’s goals and objectives.
  • Academic Excellence: Promote academic excellence through innovative teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Research Management: Foster a culture of research and scholarly activity by supporting faculty research projects, securing external funding, and promoting collaboration with industry and academia.
  • Student Engagement: Enhance student learning experiences through effective student support services, extracurricular activities, and initiatives aimed at holistic development.
  • Administrative Oversight: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the department or center, including budget management, resource allocation, and staff supervision.
  • External Relations: Build and maintain strong partnerships with external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, alumni, and the broader community.
  • Promotion and Outreach: Develop and implement strategies to promote the department’s programs, attract talented students and faculty, and enhance its reputation nationally and internationally.
  • Compliance and Accreditation: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and best practices in higher education.

Job Requirements

  • Educational Qualifications: A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree from a recognized institution in a relevant field.
  • Experience: Significant experience in academic leadership, research, and teaching, preferably in a university setting.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven leadership abilities with a track record of strategic planning, team building, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Research Credentials: Demonstrated research accomplishments, including publications in reputable journals and successful grant acquisition.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to Diversity: A commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the academic community.
  • Ethical Standards: High ethical standards and a commitment to upholding academic integrity and professional ethics.
