The Pakistan Standards & Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) is the apex body in Pakistan for the establishment and enforcement of standards and regulations concerning quality control, standardization, and conformity assessment. PSQCA aims to enhance the competitiveness of Pakistani products and services in domestic and international markets by ensuring compliance with established quality standards.

Position Overview

PSQCA is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader for the position of Director General. The Director General will be responsible for providing strategic direction, leadership, and oversight to ensure the effective implementation of quality standards and control measures across various sectors in Pakistan.

Main Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives to promote quality standards and enhance the competitiveness of Pakistani products and services.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with national and international quality standards, regulations, and protocols across industries such as manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare, and services.
  • Quality Assurance: Oversee the development, review, and enforcement of quality control measures, testing protocols, and certification processes to maintain high standards of quality and safety.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster collaboration and partnerships with government agencies, industry associations, academic institutions, and other stakeholders to promote a culture of quality and innovation.
  • Capacity Building: Lead efforts to enhance the capacity and capability of PSQCA staff, industry professionals, and relevant stakeholders through training programs, workshops, and knowledge sharing initiatives.
  • Research and Development: Drive research and development activities to identify emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in quality control and standardization.
  • Public Awareness: Raise public awareness about the importance of quality standards, consumer rights, and the role of PSQCA through outreach campaigns, media engagements, and educational programs.
  • Financial Management: Ensure efficient utilization of financial resources, budget planning, and fundraising efforts to support the operational needs and strategic objectives of PSQCA.

Job Requirements

  • Education: A master’s or doctoral degree in a relevant field such as engineering, science, business administration, or public policy. Additional certifications or qualifications in quality management or standardization will be an advantage.
  • Experience: At least 15 years of progressive experience in senior leadership roles, preferably in quality management, regulatory affairs, or standards development. Experience in a regulatory agency or government department related to quality control is highly desirable.
  • Strategic Vision: Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and initiatives to achieve organizational goals and drive organizational change.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of quality management systems, standards development processes, conformity assessment methodologies, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams, foster a culture of collaboration and innovation, and drive performance excellence.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders including government officials, industry leaders, academia, and civil society organizations.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues, make informed decisions, and implement effective solutions.
  • Ethical Standards: High ethical standards, integrity, and a commitment to upholding professional values, transparency, and accountability in all aspects of work.
