The Ministry of Commerce & Textile in collaboration with the Pakistan Tobacco Board is seeking highly skilled and motivated individuals to join our legal team. As part of the legal department, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the regulation and compliance efforts within the tobacco industry, ensuring adherence to legal frameworks and promoting responsible practices.

Main Responsibilities

  • Legal Advisory Services: Provide legal counsel and guidance to internal stakeholders on matters related to tobacco regulations, compliance, and governance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor changes in legislation and regulations about the tobacco industry, assess their impact, and develop strategies to ensure compliance.
  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents with a focus on protecting the organization’s interests.
  • Dispute Resolution: Manage legal disputes, including litigation and arbitration, and collaborate with external legal counsel as necessary to represent the organization’s interests.
  • Policy Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to enhance legal compliance and risk management practices.
  • Training and Awareness: Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate employees on legal matters, compliance requirements, and ethical practices.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution. A master’s degree in Law or relevant field will be an advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in a corporate or regulatory environment. Experience in the tobacco industry or related sectors will be highly valued.
  • Legal Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Pakistani laws and regulations, particularly those governing the tobacco industry, including but not limited to taxation, advertising, labeling, and product standards.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Urdu. Ability to communicate legal concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment, fostering positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ethical Standards: High ethical standards and integrity, with a commitment to upholding professional conduct and confidentiality.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines effectively.
