The Director-General of the Balochistan Medical Emergency Response Center has labeled the national highways of Balochistan as ‘bloody highways’. Over the last five years, 64,000 people were injured in 46,000 traffic accidents, with 1,221 fatalities.

Balochistan’s eight national highways span 4,500 km. The statistics from the past five years reveal an alarming trend with over 46,000 accidents and more than 63,000 injuries.

The N25 highway is identified as the most dangerous road in terms of accidents. In addition to Balochistan, the highways in the other three provinces are two-way, and the irregularity of these highways, combined with driver negligence and over-speeding, contributes to the high accident rates.

This data was compiled in 2019.
