Today, Pakistan celebrates the 26th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer, marking the successful nuclear tests conducted on this day in 1998, which significantly strengthened the nation’s defense capabilities.
On May 28, 1998, Pakistan became the first Muslim state and the seventh country globally to acquire nuclear weapons for defense and peaceful deterrence. In recognition of this milestone, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has declared the day a public holiday to emphasize the importance of fortifying Pakistan’s defenses.

In his message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Youm-e-Takbeer represents more than a mere commemoration; it encapsulates Pakistan’s challenging yet remarkable journey towards establishing credible minimum deterrence.
