Pakistan Commemorates 26th Anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer with National Zea

Today, Pakistan celebrates the 26th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer, marking the successful nuclear tests conducted on this day in 1998, which significantly strengthened the nation’s defense capabilities.

On May 28, 1998, Pakistan became the first Muslim state and the seventh country globally to acquire nuclear weapons for defense and peaceful deterrence. In recognition of this milestone, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has declared the day a public holiday to emphasize the importance of fortifying Pakistan’s defenses.

    Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Message

In his message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Youm-e-Takbeer represents more than a mere commemoration; it encapsulates Pakistan’s challenging yet remarkable journey towards establishing credible minimum deterrence. He praised former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for his bold leadership in 1998, when he resisted intense pressures and inducements to make Pakistan a nuclear-armed nation. Additionally, he honored former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for his strategic foresight and unwavering commitment, recognizing him as the founder of Pakistan’s nuclear program.

Shehbaz Sharif’s message on X highlighted the significance of this day, stating, “This significant day symbolizes the collective effort of all facets of national power, overcoming what seemed like an insurmountable challenge and achieving a milestone in our country’s defense capabilities. Youm-e-Takbir Mubarak!”

    Tributes from Armed Forces

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and the armed forces also congratulated the nation on this momentous occasion. A statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) highlighted that the nuclear tests of 1998 established credible minimum deterrence and restored the balance of power in the region. The ISPR paid tribute to all those who contributed to this historic achievement, commending their unwavering dedication and selfless sacrifices.

The ISPR emphasized the commendable efforts of scientists, engineers, and other authorities involved in the nuclear program, vowing that the protection of national sovereignty and security will be ensured at any cost.

    Maryam Nawaz’s Felicitations

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also extended her felicitations to the nation on Youm-e-Takbeer. She praised Nawaz Sharif for making Pakistan the first nuclear power, acknowledging his resilience and integrity. She expressed pride in being his daughter and highlighted the day as one of pride not only for Pakistan but also for the Muslim world, noting that the nuclear program symbolizes Pakistan’s strong defense.

Maryam Nawaz reiterated the nation’s gratitude for Nawaz Sharif’s bold decisions and emphasized the mission to achieve economic invincibility. She called for a renewed commitment to unity, solidarity, hard work, and tolerance.

As Pakistan commemorates Youm-e-Takbeer, the day stands as a testament to the country’s strategic foresight, resilience, and unwavering dedication to national defense.
