As the business week comes to an end, the US dollar is trending downward against the Pakistani rupee, signaling a significant change in the dynamics of the foreign exchange market.
Currency traders report that the dollar began Friday with a drop of 8 paisas in the interbank market. Following this dip, the dollar is now trading at Rs278.40, showing a noticeable decrease in value against the Pakistani rupee.
At the same time, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) is also experiencing a downturn as the business day begins. The KSE-100 index has fallen by 170 points to settle at 71,800 points, a decline from the previous day’s closing level of 71,971 points.
On the previous day, the PSX recorded a significant surge, with the KSE-100 index reaching a record high of 72,501 points. This upward momentum indicated strong investor confidence and an optimistic outlook for Pakistan’s economy.
In contrast to the stock market’s earlier bullish trend, the foreign exchange market saw a minor uptick in the US dollar’s value, with interbank rates rising by six paisas. The dollar was quoted at Rs278.45 in the interbank market, highlighting the fluctuating nature of exchange rates amidst changing market conditions.
