The federal government is preparing to unveil revised petrol and diesel prices for the latter half of March 2024, with indications pointing towards a significant decrease.

According to reports, there is a likelihood of petrol prices being reduced by Rs5, potentially bringing it down to Rs274.61 per litre, while diesel may see a decrease of Rs4.81, resulting in a price of Rs283.12 per litre. These adjustments are expected to take effect from March 16, 2024.

The potential reduction in fuel prices aligns with a downward trend observed in the international market. Brent crude futures recently experienced a slight decrease of 0.4%, reaching $81.82 per barrel, signaling a favorable scenario for consumers in Pakistan.

As of now, the current price of petrol stands at Rs279.62 per litre, with high-speed diesel priced at Rs287.33. If the projected reductions materialize, consumers can anticipate relief at the pumps, with petrol costing Rs274.61 per litre and diesel priced at Rs283.12 per litre.

This anticipated adjustment in fuel prices underscores the government’s commitment to easing the financial burden on citizens amidst fluctuations in the global market. Stay tuned for the official announcement expected on the night of March 15, as Pakistan awaits confirmation of these anticipated revisions in petrol and diesel prices.
