TransKarachi is a public-sector company established under Section 42 of the Companies Act 2017 to carry out the project implementation, management, and maintenance of urban rapid transit projects in Karachi, including the Karachi Red Line BRT Project.
Position Overview
TransKarachi is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the Karachi Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project. The CEO will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project implementation, management, and operations to ensure the successful completion and sustainable operation of the Red Line BRT Project, which is a key component of Karachi’s urban transport infrastructure.
Main Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Provide strategic leadership and direction to the project team, ensuring alignment with the project’s objectives, timelines, and budget.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain effective relationships with government agencies, private sector partners, community stakeholders, and other relevant parties to ensure smooth project implementation and ongoing support.
- Financial Management: Oversee the financial aspects of the project, including budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation, to ensure efficient use of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
- Contract Management: Manage contracts with consultants, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements and quality standards.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks that may impact project delivery, including technical, financial, and operational risks, to minimize disruptions and ensure project success.
- Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance processes and standards to ensure that the project meets the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance.
- Public Relations: Represent TransKarachi and the Red Line BRT Project in public forums, media engagements, and stakeholder meetings to promote transparency, accountability, and public trust.
- Team Management: Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing project team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA, MPA, etc.) preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of senior-level experience in project management, preferably in the transportation or infrastructure sector, with a proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale projects on time and within budget.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team towards achieving project goals.
- Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of urban transport systems, infrastructure development, and project management methodologies.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector partners, and community organizations.
- Financial Acumen: Proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and financial analysis, with the ability to manage project finances effectively.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, evaluate options, and develop practical solutions.
- Integrity: High ethical standards and a commitment to transparency, accountability, and integrity in all aspects of project management.
