The federal government has conditionally approved the export of 150,000 metric tons of sugar following requests from sugar mill owners.
The decision was made during a Sugar Advisory Board meeting chaired by Federal Minister of Industry and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain.
An agreement was signed between the Punjab government and the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association. Minister Rana Tanveer emphasized that sugar exports would be contingent on maintaining price stability and ensuring sufficient stock availability within the country.
“Availability of sugar stocks and price stability will be ensured. The ex-mill price of sugar will not be increased under any circumstances,” stated Rana Tanveer Hussain.
He also assured that all pending payments to farmers would be prioritized, and the Sugar Advisory Board would review sugar prices and the market situation every 15 days.
