Government College University (GCU) Lahore has introduced a new dress code that bans students from wearing jeans, T-shirts, and jackets on campus. This decision, announced through a university notification, applies to both male and female students and is intended to uphold discipline and decorum within the institution.
Under the new rules, male students are required to wear dress shirts and pants, while female students must wear modest attire, including a dupatta. The university has made it clear that non-compliance with the dress code will result in strict disciplinary action.
Dr. Shazia Bashir, the Vice Chancellor of GCU, explained that the dress code aims to foster discipline and appropriate behavior among students. She emphasized that T-shirts and tights are not suitable attire for female students in the university setting and encouraged male students to dress formally to reflect the academic standards of GCU.
