The Federal Emergency Response Unit (FERU) is a dedicated team committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of communities across Pakistan during times of crisis and emergencies. We work tirelessly to provide prompt, effective, and coordinated responses to a wide range of emergencies, including natural disasters, humanitarian crises, and public health emergencies. As an integral part of the national emergency response framework, FERU plays a crucial role in saving lives, minimizing damage, and restoring normalcy in affected areas.
Main Responsibilities
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement comprehensive emergency preparedness plans, including risk assessments, response strategies, and resource mobilization strategies.
- Emergency Response: Coordinate and lead emergency response operations, including search and rescue efforts, evacuation procedures, and distribution of relief supplies.
- Disaster Recovery: Oversee post-disaster recovery and rehabilitation efforts, including damage assessment, infrastructure restoration, and community rebuilding initiatives.
- Capacity Building: Conduct training sessions and workshops for government agencies, NGOs, and community groups to enhance their capacity in emergency preparedness and response.
- Coordination: Collaborate with relevant government agencies, international organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and cooperation in emergency response activities.
- Information Management: Maintain accurate records of emergency incidents, response activities, and resource utilization for reporting and analysis purposes.
- Public Awareness: Raise public awareness about disaster risks, preparedness measures, and response protocols through media campaigns, community outreach programs, and educational initiatives.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Disaster Risk Reduction, Public Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in emergency management, disaster response, or related fields.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders and effectively convey complex information.
- Proficiency in relevant computer software and information management systems.
- Willingness to travel and work in challenging environments, often under adverse conditions.
- Knowledge of national and international emergency response standards, protocols, and best practices.
- Fluency in English and Urdu; knowledge of other local languages is an advantage.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to humanitarian principles and values, with a strong sense of empathy and compassion for affected populations.
