Position Overview
PMDC is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Geologist to lead our geological exploration and mining efforts. As the Chief Geologist, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction, technical expertise, and leadership to our geological team. Main Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement geological exploration strategies aligned with PMDC’s objectives and industry best practices.
- Exploration and Surveying: Oversee geological surveys, mapping, and exploration activities to identify potential mineral deposits and assess their economic viability.
- Resource Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive assessments of mineral reserves and resources, utilizing geological data, modeling techniques, and geostatistical analysis.
- Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and support to interdisciplinary teams involved in mine planning, engineering, and environmental management.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local regulations, environmental standards, and health and safety protocols in all geological operations.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with government agencies, local communities, and industry stakeholders to foster positive relationships and facilitate responsible mineral development.
- Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of advancements in geological science, exploration technologies, and mining practices to enhance operational efficiency and resource optimization.
- Team Leadership: Mentor, motivate, and develop a high-performing geological team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Job Requirements
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in geological exploration, mining, and resource evaluation, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of successful mineral exploration projects, preferably in diverse geological settings.
- Expertise in geological mapping, sampling techniques, geophysical surveys, and mineral deposit modeling.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in geological software packages such as GIS, Surfer, and Vulcan.
- Knowledge of industry regulations, environmental impact assessments, and sustainability practices.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including team management, strategic planning, and decision-making capabilities.
- Commitment to integrity, ethics, and safety standards in all aspects of geological operations.
