Job Description
Pakistan Railways is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager for the Thar Coal Connectivity Project based in Karachi. This project is crucial for the development of the region, aiming to enhance connectivity and facilitate the transportation of coal from Thar coal fields to power plants and industrial centers across Pakistan.
Main Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Execution: Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of the Thar Coal Connectivity Project, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgetary constraints.
- Stakeholder Management: Establish and maintain effective communication channels with stakeholders including government agencies, contractors, suppliers, and local communities.
- Resource Management: Efficiently allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure project milestones are met.
- Quality Control: Implement quality control measures to ensure that all project deliverables meet the required standards and specifications.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring smooth project progress.
- Reporting: Prepare regular progress reports and presentations for project stakeholders, highlighting achievements, challenges, and future plans.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, safety standards, and environmental regulations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Team Leadership: Provide effective leadership and guidance to project team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree would be an advantage.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably in the transportation or energy sector.
- Strong project management skills, including project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
- Sound knowledge of relevant technical standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully leading multidisciplinary project teams.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with the socio-economic and political landscape of Pakistan, particularly in the Sindh region, would be advantageous.
- PMP or PRINCE2 certification would be preferred.
